Publication: "Salidas and Romanzas in Cuban Zarzuela" by Raquel Rubí  available in Amazon

Dr. Rubí is a Cuban-born multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the worlds of music and visual arts. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Florida International University and a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Miami. Her career began in Havana, performing with the early music ensemble Ars Longa and later founding El Gremio, blending early music with theatrical performance.

As a soprano, Rubí has appeared in opera, zarzuela, and operetta with companies such as Sociedad Pro-Arte Grateli, Miami Lyric Opera, and Frost Opera Theater. Most recently, she performed the role of Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with First Coast Opera. She is also the creator of original concert productions like Estampas de Zarzuela, Women in Opera, and The Very Many Mary Poppins, often highlighting young talent and community engagement.

In recent years, Rubí expanded her artistic practice into the visual arts, under the mentorship of  artist Paulo Jimenez and completing advanced training through the Milan Art Institute. Her visual work was featured in a solo exhibition at the Rotunda of the Government Center in 2023 and appears in galleries across Florida.

Through RubiMusic, her nonprofit organization, she continues to promote classical music and art programs, inspiring the next generation of artists.

"Special kudos to the Three Ladies who steal every scene, bringing beautiful voices and impeccable ensemble skills to some of Mozart’s most delightful writing."
